In commemoration of National Civics Day on October 27, The Society of Presidential Descendants and Long Island University announce the National Civics Day Award for Excellence in Civic Education. Elementary, middle, and high schools across the country are encouraged to showcase how they celebrate National Civics Day and civic education programming throughout their schools, community and the nation.
The Society of Presidential Descendants and Long Island University are honoring the winning school who displays the most meaningful celebration and best practice of civic education on National Civics Day (October 27) with a $1,000 prize. Four honorable mention schools will receive a $250 prize.
ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA:
Elementary, Middle, and High Schools are eligible to receive the award.
Criteria for winning include an abstract submission (500 words max) and National Civics Day Celebration photographs (optional) that include:
- National Civics Day Celebration activities
- School and/or community service
- Civic education programming in action
- Civic simulations
- Current events discussion
- Social emotional learning programming
- Civic engagement in school and community

- National Civics Day: October 27
- Award Submission Deadline: November 15
- Winners Notified by: December 1
