U.S. Presidents on the Importance of Civics

George Washington
A primary object should be the education of our youth in the science of government.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard for democracy, therefore, is education.
Abraham Lincoln
The philosophy of the schoolhouse in one generation will be the philosophy of the government in the next.
Theodore Roosevelt
To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society.
